The 2009 Fall Tour Challenge
We are currently in the middle of our Fall 2009 international tour, and part of this tour is a contest pitting all cities against each other like a fight-to-the-death cage match.
The rules of the contest are simple:
- We come to your town and play "Hey Ya" by Atlanta's Outkast.
- You sing along LOUDLY.
- Adam Thompson of Thao With The Get Down Stay Down judges you.
- The city with the highest score wins.
Adam Thompson is juding you based on based on various musical elements such as, Volume, Intonation, and bonus points for audiences who audibly sing the verses to the song (not just the choruses) and clap in the correct rhythm.
Adam is using the Pitchfork Scale of rating, which he describes as "fair and honest" and "just like a random number generator."
The West Coast winner is a Tie between Santa Cruz and Vancouver BC. Congrats you two! We didn't come up with a scoring system, nor a certified official judge until we got to Minneapolis, so we have no scores for the West Coast shows. We will be using a more empirical system on the rest of the tour!
